So after I was done rolling on the grass laughing at the 2 Korean makciks, Yana and I walked towards the Bapistry. Of course while walking, I got distracted by the market at the side. Yana had to practically drag me away. Sorry lah, I got it from my mama! haha
There werent anything much in the bapistry. They did an audio testing but we missed it. All I can conclude is that even if you whisper, the person at the other end would be able to hear you. The whole building was built using marble , so it had a cooling effect when we went in. We didnt realize how tired we were until we sat down. We've been walking the whole day so we decided to go back for a nap.
Later that night, we went for a walk . One thing I love about Italy is that everything is of walking distance. You can never get lost ! We passed by a beautiful cathedral that was under construction but there were a lot of youngsters hanging around . 2 guys were playing the guitar while the others were all laughing and chatting. Love the atmosphere. I didnt bring my camera and my stupid blackberry didnt do any justice to the beauty of the cathedral so Im sorry I dont have a picture to show you!
The next day was a rainy day. We left Pisa for Florence at about 10am. The journey took an hour . When we arrived Florence, it was raining so heavily and the weather forecast said it will rain the whole day so there werent any choice but to walk to the Hostel in the rain ! The walk took us about 15 minutes and thank god the receptionist was super helpful , even gave us a free map that we fully utilized ( mine is now torn apart)
Since it was going to rain the whole day , Yana and I thought it was better to visit a museum(at San Lorenzo) since it was only 5 minutes away from us. Unfortunately, everyone had the same mindset. The bloody line took us 2 hours ! Yana and I were smart enough to take turns in the queue. While 1 person queued, the other explored the shops at the side. ( Of course I took a longer time at the shops than yana. loooool)
Unfortunately, cameras werent allowed in the museum , so I cant take any pictures for you to see. There were a lot of religious paintings of Jesus and his stories. The original statue of David was also there. Apparently , its a symbol of Florence.
Florence is also very famous for its leather. Every where you go, there are shops that sell leather goods and there are relatively cheap ! I got my mum a leather jacket that I wore for the rest of my holiday. The smell of the leather is pretty darn strong that I get a headache wearing it.
The first day of Florence ended quite early. Yana and I started walking aimlessly just following where the crowd walked and we ended up finding more and more beautiful cathedrals/ churches. I guess its true they say, the best way to explore a city is by getting lost !
