Of rendang and ketupat

This year my family celebrated our Hari Raya Aidilfitri here in KL. Since both sides of my grandparents passed away, we thought we would just have a quiet celebration here in kl. Or so we THOUGHT...

First day

A conversation between my wan, me and my mum before she passed away

Wan : " When I pass away, I want my grave to be green colour "
Me :  " Ill remember that. but why green? "
Wan : " Because I want all of you to be able to find me easily. Green colour easy to see from far "

So early morning after my dad came back from sembahyang raya, we visited the graves of my late grand father, my 2 late sisters ( yes, i had 2 sisters who died when they were a baby) and of course, my wan with her green grave. It was difficult for my mother especially since she had her parents and her children at the cemetery.

My dad got a call from her step sister saying that they're coming over. Mum cooked nasi arab along with the traditional ketupat, rendang, kuah kacang and stuff. Little did we know, my step aunt had brought ALL of her children, her grandsons and grand daughters AND her children's boyfriends. Suddenly there were about 30 people in my tiny house! Far more than we expected. I didnt even have a place to sit and i ended up in the kitchen washing all the dishes.

Of course my cats got most of the attention

Mum went to a Kpop concert once and brought back these headbands. At least the kids had something to play with .

Later that night Nabil, Alia and Syafiq came to my house after we went to Syafiq's house. I was extremely tired by the end of the night and fell asleep right after my head hit the pillows.

Second day
Hey hey! more relatives came over. This time it was my mum's brother and my cousins who came by. All of my cousin and I were glued in front of the TV as harry potter was on. And it seems that the Harry Potter obsession sort of runs in the family. Im not alone after all! :')

See what I mean about these lighted headbands?

Days after that resumed as normal. It was probably the most chaotic raya Ive ever had in KL. But I did have fun and it was nice to catch up with my cousins again. Im pretty sure Ive gained so much weight thanks to all the ketupat and rendang I had.
